Not Another Blog About Soap....................

Yes, Yes it is!!!! But this one is written by someone who's a little dysfunctional, a little OCD, and has the attention span of a gnat (so my beautiful daughter tells me)....And it's written for all the wonderful folks who've help support Organically Yours....We love and thank you!!! Your the best!!!

Hopefully I can keep you updated all the new things we have coming up (Fall and Winter will be here before we know it) and that always means something wonderful smelling with pumpkin in it
For my first post, I thought I would give you a little run down on natural soap making....The first bars of soap I made were melt and pour goats milk which I added basically any good for you thing I wanted....I was never satisfied with these...They never lasted long, the lather was crappy and I knew I wasn't making a "true" bar of soap... After a year of building up my nerve to work with lye (anything called Red Devil should be scary) I put on my big girl panties and went to work....Gloves...check.....Goggles...check....Long sleeves...check....Shoes....that would be a no on the shoes!!! I was mixing the water and lye and thought I was bite by a fire ant.....now anyone who lives in or has every drove through the South knows what a fire ant is....These are truly Satan's pets....When they bite you it feels like someone has set that particular place on fire.....When I looked down I didn't see ants on the porch, instead I saw toenail polish rolling at a full boil....My toe is starting to heal nicely!!! And I wear shoes when I mix Lye!!! Lesson learned!!!
I have decided that crock pot soap making is my favorite way to make soap..Curing time is cut in half and that works out great for me because I have no patience....I love the different stages of this process, once it's all blended together and comes to trace you get this wonderful pudding texture...

Then, you get this awesome stage here (it looks like a big bowl of fat, kinda like what I'm sure needs to be liposuction from my thighs) but if you look close you'll see what looks like water, that's natural glycerin (a byproduct of saponfication, a soap making chemical reaction) your skin will love you for this, it's yummy!....

All of those wonderful stages turn into this.....

It's a beautiful thing!
